If you have a creative business online you know how important it is to get the word out there on your business, website, items and any shops or social media sites you have that are connected to your business. The more ways you promote across the internet, the more chances you have at creating a lucrative business, no matter what you’re selling.

There are smart ways to use the internet, and there are some not so smart ways. Below are some ways you can attract customers and clients, whether it be to your blog where they might hire you for whatever your skill or to your Etsy shop or Facebook page.

Blog Marketing

Blog marketing can come from use of your very own blog, or from collaborating with other bloggers. There are right and wrong ways to use blogging as a marketing tool, and it’s important to know what the best practices are for this kind of marketing.

You can use SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, in your own personal blog posts. This includes using keywords, but you must remember to avoid keyword stuffing. Keywords should flow smoothly in the piece.

You can also use link building, and swap links with other bloggers. You only want to swap links with reputable websites and bloggers, and you want to make sure that links are done in a natural way. That means putting the link with anchor text that makes sense and letting the person reading know exactly what they are going to find in that link if they choose to click it.

Social Media Marketing

Social media has made it much easier for people to reach across the world and connect with people as close as the same room or as far away as another country. With the numerous social media venues you can reach many different people. Instagram and Pinterest allow you to show off your items, while you can share photos and info using Facebook and Twitter.

Facebook provides the most useful outlets for marketing, from business pages to groups. You can start a group or business page to promote your items, or join a group and cross promote; you can upload photos and information. They also have ads you can purchase to promote posts and help bring more fans to your page.

Whatever kind of marketing you do is to show people what you have to offer. Whether it’s art or your writing skills, the important thing is to let people know who you are and what you can do for them. Marketing will only bring you money if you show people that you have something worth the expense to them.
